We may on occasion find ourselves in uncomfortable situations where we differ in doctrine with our acquaintances, friends, and family members. But the doctrine can never be used to justify treating others with anything less than respect and dignity. We can stand firm in our beliefs and have a loving relationship with those who hold differing opinions. It is never an either-or choice. We love and live our doctrine, and we love those who do not live it. We need not create false dichotomies. The late Elder Marvin J. Ashton shared this insight from an inspired leader: “The best and most clear indicator that we are progressing spiritually and coming unto Christ is the way we treat other people.

Dinner at Panera Bread with Russ & a dear friend. I hadn't been to Panera since June, and it was all I could do not to lick the broccoli cheddar soup bowl clean. It was beyond good--it was divine! As was the conversation...

I love panera bread. I love the broccoli soup too. I would have licked the bowl for a dollar. Then I would have put that dollar toward another bowl of broccoli soup which I would lick again for a dollar creating an endlessly delicious cycle.

Amy--what a great plan!

We have friends who's little boy used to hum while he ate--"yum, yum, yum" the whole time. It was funny when he was in nursery, because all of the kids would do it during snack time.

That was me in Panera last night. I could not stop myself! Yum, yum, yum....
