We did it. We had a fiesta in honor of Cinco de Mayo (a day that is apparently not a big holiday in Mexico, but oh well) and we invited 5 families from our ward. FIVE. I’ve been wanting to do something social for so long, but have never had the time or emotional energy at the same time, so when we decided to do this we did it with a bang.
The weather was beautiful, even a little hotter than I would have liked. But I’m never going to complain about hot sunny weather here. We quickly learned that the spot that seemed obvious for eating was too sunny and that our long skinny deck was perfectly shaded.
I did wish I had a better strategy (any strategy?) for how to arrange people in groups… Any suggestions? We don’t have any outdoor furniture yet so we just had everyone bring camp chairs or patio chairs.
Russ’s mexican feast was received with thunderous acclaim. And I don’t know if it was the number of people, or the fact that it was fast Sunday, or that Josh invited several of his teenaged friends, but the food was almost entirely GONE.
Thank goodness there are some muchacas left for my breakfast tomorrow…
Glad to know that Russ's cooking skills are being appreciated and put to use- we miss being the beneficiaries!
