Holiday Drinks

Last year during the holiday season we used two recipes from Becky over and over again.  I thought I'd post them here so everyone can enjoy them. We kept both drinks warm in small crockpots.

Cocoa
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup Hershey's unsweetened cocoa
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup water
5 1/2 cup milk
1 (12 ounce) can of evaporated milk or 1 1/2 cups cream
1 Tablespoon vanilla
In a saucepan, combine sugar, cocoa, and salt; add water.  Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture boils.  Boil and stir 2 minutes.  Stir in milk and evaporated milk (or cream) and heat.  Do not boil.  Remove from heat and add vanilla.  Makes 8 cups.

(I, of course, made my hot cocoa in the microwave.  It worked just great until I poured too much cold milk into the really hot bowl...then the bowl cracked into great big pieces.  So--if you make the cocoa in the microwave, add that cold milk in slowly!)

English Wassail Recipe:
2 quarts apple cider  (add more if you want a stronger apple flavor)
2 cups orange juice
1 cup lemon juice
18 oz. pineapple juice
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. whole cloves
3 sticks cinnamon
Combine and simmer before serving.

Enjoy!
