We’ve Got Talent

We spent New Year’s Eve 1999 in our home with our very best friends.  We had a talent show with (if I recall correctly) some music and a little original poetry.  It was a time of change and uncertainty for Russ and me; several weeks later we would head off to our adventure at the fertility clinic and whatever it brought.  (Little did we know!)

We’ve had many New Year’s Eves since then—most with friends, a few with family—but we’ve never had one again until now where we were at such a moment of change.  In 1999 we didn’t know about the change that was coming, but this year we really did.  And that made our time together (and our talent show) even more precious.

I made two video clips montages of our talent show.  The first video has the fun/kid acts, and the second video has the more serious music.  Please excuse everyone’s nerves and mistakes—some of these numbers we started working on just the day before, but they were too much fun not to play!  And please notice that in “The First Noel” the piano accompaniment you hear in the background is Ken and me playing together—neither of us has the skill necessary to play it alone!
