Facebook Finally Got Me

Until this week I was ambivalent about facebook.  I’d drop in from time to time and see what my friends are up to, but it had no hold on me.  Until this week, I could say that I’d never played a game on facebook. I’d never been tempted to go into farming, never played with jewels.

No longer.  Facebook has got my number.

Or rather, my letter.

It started when Russ bought himself a new kindle fire for his birthday a few weeks ago.  One night I asked him what he was doing and he said he was playing scrabble online with Jared on his itouch.

My obsession started so innocently.  First I just asked Russ to let me play his turn every now and then.  Then we passed the kindle back and forth and played a game together.  Then I just played a game against myself.

I could hold out no longer.  I loaded my first ever facebook app.

Words With Friends.

Last night we got home late. We were so tired.  We knew we had to get up early this morning.  And still we sat on the couch in our bedroom playing.  Me playing games with Cindy Lynn & Russ, Russ playing games with me & Mahon.  (Cindy Lynn playing games with me & Mahon.) Until our brains froze from exhaustion and we had to give in and go to bed.

But today, today is a new day.  A new Words With Friends day.  And I’ve asked even more people to play scrabble with me.  I’ve always loved speed scrabble but never been a scrabble player because of the scrabble factor—the turns take too long and so does all the tedious math.  But now it doesn’t matter if the turn takes a long time.  I’ll just go and pack a few more boxes.  Take a nap.  Play my other scrabble games.  And the program will do all of the math, in less than a second.

What’s not to love???

  1. Funny. I saw your name come up on there as a new player. I was wondering if it was you playing or one of your kids. I got started playing with my girls. We are in the house together though.
