Birthday Bliss

I just love it when my birthday turns out to be a truly nice day. And yesterday fit that descrition exactly.

It started with breakfast almost in bed, made for me by my awesome son Jason. He made fried potatoes--my favorite, and scrambled eggs. And he stopped at the grocery store on the way home from seminary and bought me a little dessert for my birthday breakfast! Breakfast was accompanied by entertaining homemade cards, always a treat.

After breakfast I went for a brisk walk (brrr...it was a blustery day!) and then read my scriptures. I decided that I would wear my favorite sweater from two birthdays ago because it is so cheerful that it always makes me happy.

I got ready to do school with the little kids and went to find them. This is what I saw.

They were playing that they were horses in a stable, and they were eating their snacks. How could I interrupt that?? So I had a great time blogging about them, and then I went upstairs and sewed while watching my birthday present--a personal dvd player. I never have time to watch anything on tv, so I was excited to be able to buy that with my birthday money from Russ's parents.

I had asked Russ to buy a rotisserie chicken because I didn't want to cook dinner. Instead that wonderful man brought home steaks and cooked them on the grill. Really fat juicy steaks. Yum, yum! He also brought flowers, but I couldn't figure out a way to include that information in the previous sentence without making it sound like the flowers also met their fate on the grill. After some birthday cheesecake I went back to sew and the rest of my family finished their week-long Star Wars marathon.

If you've got to turn 42, that was a great way to do it!

  1. Okay... the part about steaks was just cruel! Now my mouth is watering! Guess I will have to content myself with Mongolian Grill leftovers.
