I'm Thinking About:

February 24th

We may on occasion find ourselves in uncomfortable situations where we differ in doctrine with our acquaintances, friends, and family members. But the doctrine can never be used to justify treating others with anything less than respect and dignity. We can stand firm in our beliefs and have a loving relationship with those who hold differing opinions. It is never an either-or choice. We love and live our doctrine, and we love those who do not live it. We need not create false dichotomies. The late Elder Marvin J. Ashton shared this insight from an inspired leader: “The best and most clear indicator that we are progressing spiritually and coming unto Christ is the way we treat other people.

We Party at the Hospital

Not everyone can have a birthday party at the hospital, but that's what we did for Rachel, Jenna, and Jared this year. Armed with a cake, (made from a mix that Grandma Ray found hidden in her food storage from years ago) candles from the recreational therapist, and one present per kid, we went up to the hospital to celebrate with Mahon and Cindy Lynn.

All three of them were thrilled to open their present and find new roller blades--which they've been asking for for months now. Apparently when you're almost 9 regular skates are no longer good enough!

The best part of the party (besides seeing Cindy Lynn) was that the area where were had the party was fairly secluded and there was lots of room to skate. And skate they did!

Jenna was more tentative than the other two at first, but still had a great time.

I think they will probably never forget their unusual party!

Oh--that's cousin John--he was with us that day because he was riding back to rexbug with Mahon for EFY with Josh.
