Last but Not Least

While I was in Utah we celebrated the last birthday in the Ray Birthday Season—Cindy Lynn turned 22.

I can still remember the first week of Cindy Lynn’s life.  The week when I wondered the whole time when her real parents were going to come and get her—it seemed like another babysitting job!

I thought she was the most beautiful baby in the world and I was quite distressed that my brother told me she looked like a Neanderthal.

Fortunately he thinks she’s very cute now and we’re really glad no one came to claim her that first week.

In fact we’re pretty sure no one has ever had as awesome of a first child as Cindy Lynn—she is just that terrific.  I can’t quite believe that she’s 22 now.  (But maybe that’s just because of what it means about my own age!)

Happy Birthday again sweetie!

  1. Happy birthday Cindy Lynn! And those huge glasses of yours get me EVERY time Cindy!! I literally do a double take and laugh even though I've seen them a few times now...tinted, even! Makes me wonder what my kids will laugh at in pictures of me:).

  2. I am just thinking about how much easier this life of raising children would be, if we were given some snapshots like this to reassure us. I look at all of these pictures of Cindy Lynn and think - "Wow - she made it!". Then through all the hard times we could just think to ourselves - "this IS hard, but I have seen how well this turns out!"

  3. It's about four pictures down that I will always have in my memory of that sweet Cindy Lindy. How did she ever get from that to now?! {Not that I have any complaints about the wonderful person she's turned into, mind you. =D} Happy Birthday, Cindy Lynn!

  4. Katie--the glasses get me too! And believe me, the tinted made them extra cool! (What on earth were we thinking?!?)

    Mahon--she was a darling kid!

Andra--you're exactly right. And having two kids raised to adulthood (or semi-adulthood in the other case) gives me hope that we can succeed with the other 4.

  6. I rather remember the term "Ape Baby" Don't try to pin neanderthal on me. People would think I was mean.
