I'm Thinking About:

February 24th

We may on occasion find ourselves in uncomfortable situations where we differ in doctrine with our acquaintances, friends, and family members. But the doctrine can never be used to justify treating others with anything less than respect and dignity. We can stand firm in our beliefs and have a loving relationship with those who hold differing opinions. It is never an either-or choice. We love and live our doctrine, and we love those who do not live it. We need not create false dichotomies. The late Elder Marvin J. Ashton shared this insight from an inspired leader: “The best and most clear indicator that we are progressing spiritually and coming unto Christ is the way we treat other people.

Hall-O-Sewing

Such fun Halloween sewing this year. First I made my first (but not my last!) table runner. I paid to have it quilted and it's not bound yet...there's after Halloween for that.

Then on the spur of the moment I made a table runner for Alisyn so that I could make a cute pattern I'd seen online after I'd already made mine. It turned out so cute and Alisyn was very surprised.

Then on the spur-er of the moment I decided that one of the fabrics I'd used on Alisyn's table runner was so great that I needed to make a dress for Kate that she could wear for one week this year and would still fit her next year.

So much sewing fun!

Maybe not lazy…

I always (always) feel like I am pretty lazy. Disorganized and lazy. But after this week I think I should lose that thought. I have been all alone since 4AM monday morning. I could have been eating bon-bons and watching tv and reading. Here is what I have done:

Read 2 books
Gone visiting teaching
Babysat Kate 2 afternoons
Fixed dinner for Mahon & CL one night
Run 9 errands one evening (seriously--I thought I would die when I had to walk across Lowes which was my last stop)
Taken 1/2 of fabric out of the sewing room and sorted it, cleaned off 1/2 of counters
Cleaned out girls closet
folded all folding clothes
taken down 3 shelves and put up closet rod instead (hence trip to Lowes)
put many many clothes from floor and laundry baskets on hangers
organized clothes in rainbow colors
took apart desk and removed from room
slightly rearranged room
vacuumed as I went
cleaned out under beds
put Jenna's beds on risers
changed sheets on both beds & made them
Put together new shelves for my shower
cleaned entire bathroom including mopping floor & washing rug
got angel hats from girl’s camp ready to mail
cleaned & swept Harry Potter room
cleaned, swept, and mopped laundry room

I need to train my brain to think about myself differently. Because I don't think that is a lazy person. I think I am a person who has a hard time getting started on projects sometimes, and a person who transitions badly. But not lazy!

Kate the Great: Day 2

Ahhh...how hard it is to find time to blog with Kate the Great around! Here we go on Day 2:

She's ready for scriptures!

She found a little stool outside and thought it was the best thing ever.

She carried it from one place to the other, occasionally standing on it.

When she got really brave she took it out front and down the sidewalk.

(Eventually she did get tired and give it to me to carry back.)

Here she is writing in "her" book so that she had work to do like the girls.

She wanted to share my grapefruit but then wasn't quite certain what she thought about it.

Beautiful girl!

I should mention that this was the day that she put my whole chapstick in her mouth and licked it, and then opened my dental floss and licked that too...yum yum!

Bonus time with Kate

Even though we were sad that Grandma died, we were tickled pink to get extra time with Kate in November. Every time we some to visit she’s doing something new and even cuter than the time before. Last spring Jenna spent and extra week with Cindy Lynn and Kate bonded with “Neh-Nah.” This time when we went back up to Bountiful for the viewing we left Rachel to spend two extra days with Kate. Now Kate thinks “Ray-Ray” is just as cool as “Neh-Neh.”

Kate: (always) the main event

I always feel bad for Cindy Lynn when we leave Utah. I’m sure she’s at least slightly relieved to have her life back to normal, but when we leave she loses a host of Kate-entertaining aunts and uncles. We had such fun with Kate on this trip.
