Would You?

If one of your super-cool friends had a Totally Awesome Twilight birthday party, and another of your super-cool (and obviously very talented) (and perhaps slightly disturbed) friends made these shortbread cookies,

would you eat them???

P.S.  I will have to post again soon, just so I'm not looking at this pic every time I pull up my blog!

It’s a Giveaway!

I've been working on a new project for the last two weeks and having so much fun.  After my friend Megan suggested for the second time that I should make cards with my pictures, I decided to give it a try.  I went through years of digital pictures, made a folder of pictures that I thought were nice, and started printing, cutting, and folding.  I can’t believe how great they are turning out--and now I can’t stop!  So I figured I might as well give some away.

I seem to have several distinct themes.  Beaches & Oceans, of course.

Roses, of course.

I also noticed a few other categories in my picture-taking.  Landscapes,

Miscellaneous flowers,

and critters.

So here’s the deal.  I’m going to leave this post at the top of my blog for a week.  Don’t worry, I’ll still be posting—you and I both know that the likelihood of me going a whole week without having something to say is pretty small indeed!  But I’ll leave the giveaway post at the top so that everyone sees it.  Leave a comment and tell me how you’d use the cards, and if there’s one category you’d prefer.

I have to say—I’ve done most of my correspondence through email the last few years, but these cards are so beautiful I’m trying to figure out reasons to send notes via snail mail!

For Amy

I was sitting in the recliner in my bedroom this afternoon, checking my email, when Jason brought me a yummy sandwich for lunch.  (Mother's day must be starting early!)  I started eating as I read, but then realized that there was a problem.  The sandwich was just a little bit messy (the delicious kind of messy) and it was getting on my hands.  And he didn't bring me a napkin.

Now I will be the first to admit that I'm ocd about napkins.  I hate my when my fingers feel like there's food on them, but I'm old enough to have the restraint (most of the time) not to wipe them on my clothes.  So I need a napkin.

At the same time I was comfy in my chair, and in order to get a napkin I would have had to put down the plate, put down the laptop, stand up, and walk down the stairs to the kitchen!

It seemed that there must be an easier way.

I looked around the chair, wondering if there might be a napkin substitute nearby.  And then I saw it.

The sock basket.
The End

Who Knew???

I was just doing some research for Jason. He quite his job at Cookout before he went to Puerto Rico, and now his job for the rest of the summer is going to be painting the outside of our house. He suggested that I look for a book to help him out — something like "House Painting for Dummies." So I went looking.

Do you know how many books there are in the "______for Dummies" series? Take a guess. And then scroll down past this lovely picture of a rose from Amy's house to see the right answer.

Higher.

No, really. Higher.

974.

That's nine hundred and seventy four!

Who knew!

Well, now I do and you do. There are books from

and everything in between!

You can get "Acne for Dummies", a "Dream Dictionary for Dummies", "ASVAB AFQT For Dummies", (no, I have NO IDEA what that means!), and Christian Prayer for Dummies.  There's even a book that's called "Swinging Exchanges for Dummies", and I was kind of freaked out that someone had written a how-to book on swinging!  Don't worry-- it's about some obscure kind of stock trading, not spouse swapping.

So.  The very next time there's anything in your life that you're unsure about, I'm sure there's a Dummies book for you.  I'm pretty sure I saw about 268 that I need!

Multitasking

This morning when I got up I was not looking forward to my 20 minutes of torture exercise.  But my reluctance wasn't only because most of the major muscle groups in my body were crying out in pain.  It was also because after just 2 days I am tired of looking at Jillian's perfect abs!  My body is crying out in pain after about minute 3, but almost as importantly my brain is completely numb within the first minute.  How many times can I watch the same thing???

And so this morning I hit on a great solution.  On the big screen (lest you think the fact that we have a big screen means anything posh about us, I must tell you that what we have is an old window shade, held to our wall by 2 nails.  We call it the PWT big screen.  But I digress.) On the big screen we watched

Everest: Beyond the Limit Season 2

And on the regular (not too big) tv, muted, the dvd was playing.

I was completely entertained the whole time, and didn't even notice the pain as much!

Shredded

After almost a year of intermittent foot pain, my foot seems to be better.  And just in time, because bathing-suit season is just around the corner!

I decided yesterday that it was time to get back on the exercise bandwagon, and so I pulled out my DVD.   It's called the 30 Day Shred.  I used to think Shred meant something about small pieces of cheese. I must have been wrong.  I now realize that Shred means pain.  30 Days of Pain and Misery is a more apt title.

But, as I said, it's almost time to pull out the bathing suits and after a year of foot pain/no exercise let me tell you, something needs to be shredded!

Fortunately I have company in my misery...

Today, in the Parking Lot at Lowes,

Jenna met the car of her dreams.

PS.  The car may be cute, but the girl is even cuter!
