When I came downstairs on Sunday morning everyone was out on the screened porch.
Listening to Russ read from the last chapters of the 7th Harry Potter book. Yes, that’s right, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, he’s read them all. Aloud. In the last few months. For hours at a time. That is some feat of the vocal cords.
(Rachel preferred listening from a fetal position in the hammock chair.)
Sunday night after dinner they were at it again. The end was so close they could all taste it.
And then, all of a sudden, there it was. It was over.
I am amazed. What a man. They love reading with him so much and have no idea how lucky they are.
PS—Rachel suggested tonight that they read book 7 again.
Russ declined.
That is an awesome feat! And, LOVE the pictures...especially the last one! :)
ReplyDeleteThat IS awesome! Bryan and I read 6 of the HP books aloud together, and even with taking turns, my voice got so tired. We ended up buying the 7th book on CD so we could listen to it on our road trip when it came out {otherwise, I would have had to read it all by myself}. =) Go Russ!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Mahon and I are reading the new Rick Riordan (Percy Jackson author) book aloud together. It's about ancient Egypt....
ReplyDelete(By the way Jared's hair in that last picture is priceless!!!)
I'm with CL -- we are doing Percy Jackson together and the kids are loving it. We've all had Harry Potter -itis... which is when nothing you read afterward quite compares. Now on to Percy, it's as close as you'll get!
ReplyDeletePercy was our next choice, but someone (we won't name who, really I won't because I don't know) has lent out all our copies. So then we were going to read Redwall, but we have book 2 not 1. So then we went on to the dragon series from Patricia C. Wrede. I think they actually call it the Enchanted Forest series.
ReplyDeleteWe will miss HP. Sad they are over.
Jared's hair was the result of getting out of the shower and using my gel to slick his hair back like Malfoy. What you see in the pic is the result after it has dried.
ReplyDeleteThat's so awesome! I have the best dad ever.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! Way to go Russ! I can't believe how big they are. Why oh why do they grow up so quickly?!?
